Advantage: Experience
The Y Combinator program provides a young entrepreneur with a thorough first hand introduction into the entrepreneurial world. The opportunity to start a company this early in life, full-time and without distraction is rare. Through Y Combinator, one learns all the basics, from incorporation, to product development, to customer service, to raising money.
After the program, startup founders are accustomed to the culture of the entrepreneurial environment and will have grown their network of contacts. Down the line, the company will succeed or fail, but regardless, the entrepreneur will have learned critical lessons in the process and posses the experience and contacts to do it again, this time without the assistance of Y Combinator.
